The Global Film Series at Bridgewater State University is presenting "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" with a discussion led by Dr. Leora Lev, professor of foreign languages, Wednesday, April 23 at 5 p.m. The film will be screened in the Maxwell Library Lecture Hall, Room 013. The docudrama is about the true-life story of Jean-Dominique Bauby, the wealthy editor of Elle magazine who was paralyzed at age 43 and found the strength to rebound. The film follows his descent from playboy to a bed-bound stroke victim who could not speak or move. His only channel for communication was his eyes and by blinking them he created a code that was used to signify specific letters of the alphabet. That code enabled him to author his memoir.
