Anthropology Symposium Held

Five students presented their research findings at the 10th annual Anthropology Department’s Undergraduate Research Symposium.

The presenters and their projects were:

Conor Parsons: Examining the Origins of Modern Humans

Karen Sargent: Voices of Hijab-Wearing Muslim Women: Ethnography through Social Media

Grace Bello: A Walk through Time with the Boats Archaeological Site of Dighton, Massachusetts

Amanda Zadok: Sephardic and Yemenite Judaism: An Ethnographic Study of Local, Contemporary Communities

Emily Rux: Life through Bones: A Forensic Anthropological Analysis

Recipients of this year’s Horner Awards were Grace E. Bello and Karen L. Sargent.

The department also took time to honor its graduating seniors: Chelsey M. Bethea, Ms. Bello*, Coady D. Egan*, Jessica L. GagnonMichael K. Gagnon, Mr. Parsons*, Alison M. Payne*, Ms. Sargent*, Andrew M. Seedholm, Pamela A. Sommer, Rachel L. Ward* and Ms. Zadok.
