The subject of hiking the Appalachian Trail drew a large crowd to BSU’s One Book, One Community program. The two-hour event, held at the Bridgewater Public Library, was titled, “Take a Hike: Tales of Life on the Appalachian Trail” and included a discussion of Bill Bryson’s book, “A Walk in the Woods.”
Susan McCombe, director of the Office of University and Community Partnerships, welcomed the attendees to the program which featured two men who have walked the entire 2,000-plus miles of Appalachian Trail. Sean Sullivan and Peter Swarce discussed their adventures, with additional commentary by Kristen Sykes of the The Appalachian Mountain Club.
Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Swarce each brought slides of their separate journeys and shared stories of their experiences.
The next program will take place on May 22 when the group will present a program on author and hiker Jennifer Pharr Davis's book, “Becoming Odyssa.” For more information, please call the Office of University and Community Partnerships at 508-531-1794.
