Students and parents can learn all about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid at FAFSA Day, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Burnell 132B.

The event will offer individualized assistance for students and their families.

“The FAFSA Day also allows students and parents to bring their taxes and sit with someone from the financial aid office to complete the FAFSA,” said Denise McNulty of BSU’s financial aid office. “The one-on-one time will allow them to ask questions and give them the tools they need to do the FAFSA on their own the following year.”

Another goal of event is to to make students and parents more aware of the FAFSA and BSU’s priority filing consideration deadline of March 1, as well as the importance of filing the FAFSA every year and on time.

To be considered for the maximum financial aid available at BSU, students should file the FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA application by March 1. (The FAFSA may show a June 30 deadline, however, June 30 is the final date of the award year for receipt of applications, not the priority deadline. All applications received by the Federal Processing Center after March 1 will be considered for financial aid awards on a funds available basis.)

There are also changes to FAFSA, and Saturday’s event will help students and their families navigate these.
