The flight training program has been accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI). BSU joins only 35 other colleges and universities from around the world who have attained this status.
AABI accreditation assures students and industry partners that they are part of a high-quality, professional program that is well-respected in the industry and that is continually reviewed by external auditors who are experts in their respective educational and professional fields.
“I am very pleased for our program and for the university as whole,” said David Price, associate dean of aviation. “This achievement means that our graduates are meeting the highest of standards that have been established by the leaders in the aviation industry.
Three fundamental purposes of AABI accreditation are to ensure the quality of the institution or programs, to assist the improvement of the institution or program, and to maintain relevance of education within the industry it serves.
Bridgewater officials received final approval of its accreditation on Feb. 21 after visits by the accrediting team to its Flight Center in New Bedford and on campus last fall.
The flight training program at Bridgewater has been in operation for more than 30 years. Mr. Price added, “This also means that our graduates and students will be seen as having come from a program that is of the highest quality.
