The Louis M. Ricciardi College of Business is introducing a new program for commercial lending professionals.
The Commercial Lending Management Development Program is an eight-month course offered through the College of Continuing Studies that focuses on analyzing personal and commercial financial statements, leadership skills, and sales and professional communication.
The banking industry is struggling with a shortage of commercial lending professionals, which makes this program especially timely, said Dr. Elmore Alexander, dean of the College of Business.
“Banks are struggling to hire people, and we’re trying to fill that need,” he said.
Assistant Dean of the College of Business Jeanean Davis-Street worked with continuing studies to develop the program. It is a mix of online and classroom instruction.
The course is based on retirement management analyst curriculum, the industry standard. The key components include sales, negotiation and relationship-management; credit analysis; presentation skills and ethical considerations. Participants will learn through the case study review process.
The course is taught at the Attleboro campus. For information, call 508-531-3896.
