University police are getting a leg up on patrolling campus. Make that four legs.

Thanks to an agreement with the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department, the university now has a part-time mounted police unit.

The horses are on campus as needed, for special events and to patrol the surrounding trails and other areas. The program will also serve as a community outreach tool. Meanwhile, plans call for BSU’s equestrian team to play a role in the program. (Video by students Travis Garlick and Yvana Osborne)
