Graduates of Bridgewater State University fare above average with regard to earnings once they graduate and enter the workforce, according to a new website introduced recently by President Barack Obama.
College Scorecard is a product of the federal government aimed at helping parents and students make wise choices when it comes to selecting a college.
See BSU’s profile here.
The scorecard takes into account the annual cost to attend each institution, how much money graduates make on average after entering the workforce, and graduation rates.
“According to the College Scorecard profile on Bridgewater State, the median earnings for former students after 10 years of entering the school is $41,500, which is about $7,000 more than national average,” according to an article in the Taunton Gazette. The graduation rate was ranked above average.
Bridgewater was ranked “about average” in the annual-cost-to-attend category.
Quoted in the Gazette story was John Paganelli, director of the BSU Career Services Office. “We are a really affordable school, but we have great professors,” he said. “The College Scorecard is a really nice summary… Everyone seems pretty satisfied and proud.”
He added that BSU’s retention rate of 81 percent (67 percent is the national average) should also be taken into account by prospective students and their parents. Mr. Paganelli also highlighted BSU’s paid internship program, excellent undergraduate research opportunities and study abroad offerings.
