The mid-year symposium hit another milestone this year, with more than 650 presenters. This is the highest number of presenters to take part in the annual event.

The symposium filled the Campus Center ballroom, and came on the heels of BSU being named a leader in undergraduate research by The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR).

The university was one of 57 institutions featured in an ad placed by the council in The Chronicle of Higher Education and other academic publications. CUR claimed that these schools were leaders in research because they provided “significant numbers of… students with an opportunity to present their work at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR),” the leading national venue for the presentation of student research.

The mid-year symposium was proof of the program’s continued success. Student presenters represented nearly all disciplines; many will also travel in April to Eastern Washington University for NCUR. More than 400 Bridgewater students have presented at this prestigious event in recent years, reflecting a 94-percent acceptance rate.
