A new dual-enrollment program allows a small group of Wareham High School students to take college-level classes at BSU.
The students, Ryan Bonfiglio, Victoria Weichel and Jeffrey Cifello, stopped by Boyden Hall to visit with President Dana Mohler-Faria and Frederick Clark Jr., executive vice president and vice president of external affairs.
The president told the students that he too attended Wareham High School, mentioning that he was preparing to attend his 50th class reunion. Both Mr. Clark and the president inquired about the courses the students were taking at BSU, where they might be applying to college, what course of study they might major in, and what they most liked about the dual enrollment experience at BSU.
Deborah Freitas, assistant principal at Wareham High, accompanied the students and said they are enjoying their time on campus. One student mentioned that while the college courses he is taking are challenging, in some ways the college schedule is easier and not as stressful as high school.
Wareham High School also has a dual-enrollment program with the town’s middle school. It is expected that a number of those participating students will eventually partake of the school’s initiative with BSU. (Photo by student Nicholas Allende, University News)
